It is a privilege to be affiliated with the Joy of Medicine Program which was developed by the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society (SSVMS) to build resilience, provide connection, and reduce burnout for physicians in the Sacramento region. I'm a vetted provider of consultation and counseling sessions for physicians which allow for up to 6 lifetime "confidential, convenient, competent and cost-free" sessions sponsored by SSVMS. These sessions are available to physicians, fellows, residents, and medical students in the greater Sacramento region, with the goal of promoting wellness and reducing stress. I also provide tele-health sessions for physicians throughout California on a self-pay basis.
The Sacramento Bee highlighted the SSVMS Joy of Medicine program in an article on physician burnout and wellness. To inquire about scheduling a Resiliency Consultation, please contact me at (916) 206-1741 and mention the Joy of Medicine program or email me at DrLori@DrLoriRoberto.com. There are also Physician Peer Groups which allows Sacramento area physicians to connect and share their successes and challenges in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
My interest in working with physicians and healthcare professionals stems from both personal and professional experiences. As a result of pre and post-doctoral specialty training in Clinical Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine, and my work as a Licensed Psychologist, I've had the vantage point of working in both inpatient hospital and outpatient medical settings. This has allowed me to understand the unique challenges as well as the positive experiences physicians and other healthcare providers face. In fact, I count my work in multidisciplinary healthcare teams among my career highlights and I enjoy collaboration for better patient care. Also, having family members in the medical field helps me understand and affirm the unique circumstances of the life of a physician or nurse on a more personal level.
In addition to supporting resilience and helping physicians (and other healthcare providers) avoid or recover from burnout, I have expertise in stress management, work/life integration issues, career and life transitions, perfectionism, and supporting self-care/micro-care practices. I work from a place of cultural humility and strive to honor the unique life circumstances and strengths of every individual. I use an integrative approach to help with a wide variety of other concerns, particularly related to health and wellness.
