I offer both short and long-term psychotherapy and consultation for adults in my Sacramento office. HIPAA compliant and secure video sessions, or phone sessions, are available when clinically appropriate for clients who are California residents.
As a specialist in clinical health psychology, I can help with chronic illness, pain, insomnia and body, eating or weight concerns. I will help you explore better adjustment and wellness to live a healthier and happier life.
Interested in counseling while walking in nature? You get the combined benefit of therapy and movement. We can walk on quiet paved or unpaved paths along the beautiful American River Parkway next to my office.
Yes, I offer a free phone consultation! I believe the therapist-client fit is of utmost importance and a phone consultation will allow us a chance to discuss whether we are a good match for working together. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have and will ask you questions too regarding your reasons for seeking help and what your hopes are regarding treatment. It is important that we both feel confident that working together is a good idea. I'll be happy to provide some referral ideas if I think you might be better served by another clinician or treatment center.
I'm pleased to be able to provide a variety of options including standard in-office psychotherapy and consultation, Walk & Talk therapy outside of the office, as well as telehealth options for California residents. The beauty of this situation is that it allows you a great deal of flexibility. There are pros and cons to each modality and we can discuss the benefits and limitations of each, based on your unique situation. My office is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of free parking. Walk & Talk therapy is available to us on the beautiful American River Parkway, but we can always come inside if we need to do different work or have bad weather. I use a HIPAA compliant video platform for telehealth.
Your health is invaluable and I strongly believe that psychotherapy is a positive investment in your overall well being. My fees are $170 for the initial assessment (60 minutes) and $160 for individual psychotherapy sessions (50 minutes). Fees for other services vary. I accept cash, check, Venmo (set to private), and credit cards, including most health saving or flex accounts.
If you have a PPO insurance plan that has out of network benefits, I'm happy to give you a special receipt that you can submit to your insurance company to seek reimbursement. In this situation, I must note a diagnosis which would become part of your permanent medical record and your insurance company may seek further information about your treatment in order to process your claims. Although there is no guarantee that out of network claims will be reimbursed by your PPO insurance company, some people appreciate the flexibility of this option to choose the provider of their choice.
I also offer a limited number of reduced fee slots in my schedule as part of my commitment to the value of psychotherapy for all individuals. One way I do this is through the non-profit Open Path Psychotherapy Collective which is a nationwide network of professionals committed to providing mental health care at deeply reduced rates for individuals with significant financial need. Follow the link above to explore Open Path or contact me directly to enquire about a reduced fee slot.
Yes, this can be very confusing! In my case, I have a Ph.D. which stands for a "Doctor of Philosophy" in Clinical Psychology. A Ph.D. is a doctoral degree, the highest level educational degree, and something I worked for many years to obtain, even after going to college. In order to be a licensed psychologist you must have a doctoral degree and thousands of hours of pre and post-doctoral clinical experience. Other mental health providers have master's degrees, such as MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). When seeking mental health treatment, it is essential that you check the license status of your provider to make sure you are working with someone with adequate training and oversight. Some people call themselves counselors or therapists or coaches but are not licensed.
I require a minimum of 24 hours for cancellations or rescheduling your appointment. Unlike medical offices that see multiple patients per hour, I hold your session exclusively for you and cannot fill your session at the last minute. You are responsible to pay the full fee with less than 24 hour notice or in the event of a no-show.
